A total of 25 companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) have announced dividends for the last fiscal year ahead of the Tihar festival. By Kartik 2, companies from different sectors had declared dividends ranging from 5 percent to as high as 1,842 percent. The Gen Z protest that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24 delayed the capital market for about a week. Because of that, many companies had to postpone their annual general meetings (AGMs), which also pushed back the dividend distribution schedule.
This year, most companies have chosen to give bonus shares instead of cash dividends. So far, only a few companies like Machhapuchhre Bank, Manjushree Finance, Sanima Bank, and Bhagawati Hydropower have completed their AGMs and already given out cash dividends. In total, seven commercial banks, four development banks, five hydropower companies, two investment companies, three manufacturing firms, two microfinance institutions, and one each from the finance and other sectors have announced dividends.
Unilever Nepal once again announced the highest dividend, declaring an impressive 1,842 percent in cash from last year’s profit. The company has not yet announced its book closure date. Hathway Investment Nepal completed its AGM on Bhadra 31, while Machhapuchhre Bank held its meeting on Asoj 10 and distributed 4 percent cash and 4 percent bonus shares, making 8 percent in total. Kamana Sewa Development Bank and Universal Power Company closed their books on Asoj 8 and held AGMs on Asoj 24 and Asoj 23. Nepal Lube Oil Limited also completed its AGM on Asoj 31. Sanima Bank finished its AGM on Kartik 2, while Bhagawati Hydropower held its meeting the same day, declaring 14 percent bonus and 6 percent cash dividends. Muktinath Development Bank will hold its AGM on Kartik 15, and Everest Bank on Kartik 12.
