Newly Appointed SEBON Chairman Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta Commits to Implementing Capital Market Reform Recommendations

The newly appointed chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal, Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta, has expressed his commitment to working honestly with a primary focus on developing the capital market and protecting the interests of investors. Speaking after taking his oath of office and secrecy at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, Bhatta stated that he would fulfill his duties in line with the policies and plans of the government.

Dr. Bhatta highlighted that he aims to utilize his knowledge, experience, and professional skills to safeguard the interests of stock market investors. He also added that his efforts would align with assisting the government in achieving its economic growth targets.

Implementing Past Reform Studies and Recommendations

During his address, the newly appointed chairperson emphasized that he would continuously work on the development of the market by implementing recommendations from various studies conducted over the years for capital market reform. He noted that these past studies contain valuable insights that can guide the future direction of Nepal’s securities market.

No Ministry Interference and Focus on Results

The appointment comes after the cabinet meeting held on Asar 5 decided to appoint Dr. Bhatta to the top post of the capital market regulator. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr. Bhatta on Monday. During the ceremony, the Finance Minister assured Dr. Bhatta that there would be no interference from the ministry, urging him to focus solely on delivering positive results for the sector.
