Solu Hydropower IPO Sold Out Quickly Among Nepalis Working Abroad

Kathmandu, 26 November 2025 — The IPO of Solu Hydropower Limited was fully subscribed in a short time for Nepalis currently employed outside Nepal. The offer opened on Mangsir 7 B.S. The company closed the foreign employment category early, on Mangsir 10 B.S., as applications had already crossed the number of shares available. The local residents’ category will remain open until Mangsir 21 B.S.

IPO Allocation

• Shares for foreign employment (10% of public issue): 10 lakh units
  Value: NPR 10 crore

• Total public IPO approved for issue: 2 crore units
  Total value: NPR 2 arba (20% of issued capital)

• Shares issued for project-affected local residents: 1 crore units (worth NPR 1 arba)

Local Resident Share Breakdown

• Highly affected areas residents (40%): 40 lakh units
  (Wards 7 and 11 of Solu Dudhkunda Municipality, and Ward 1 of Thulung Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu)

• Other local residents (60%): 60 lakh units
  (Other wards of Solu Dudhkunda Municipality and Thulung Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu)

Project and Company Status

• Solu Hydropower Limited has completed the 82 MW Lower Solu Hydropower Project in Solukhumbu district.

• The plant began commercial electricity generation on Shrawan 24, B.S. 2082.

• Total cost of building the project: NPR 16 arba 30 crore 40 lakh

• Cost per MW: NPR 19 crore 88 lakh

• Electricity production license valid until: 4 Chaitra 2106 B.S.

• Regulatory approval: Nepal Securities Board approved 2 crore public shares for issue.
