SEBON Chairman Selection Process Reaches Final Stage with Four Candidates Shortlisted
The process of appointing a new chairman for the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has moved into its final phase. A selection committee formed under Section 7(3) of the Securities Act, 2063, has chosen four individuals from a total of 47 applicants who applied for the position.
Selection Details and Shortlisted Names
The committee had requested personal details and applications from interested candidates on Baisakh 15, 2083 B.S. After evaluating the 47 applications received within the deadline, the committee has officially shortlisted Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari, Binayadev Acharya, Mukunda Kumar Chhetri, and Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta for the final round.
Among the four candidates on the shortlist, two are former executive directors of Nepal Rastra Bank, and the other two are former executive directors of the Securities Board of Nepal. Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta and Mukunda Kumar Chhetri are the officials coming from the central bank background.
Schedule for Final Discussions
The committee has scheduled individual discussions with all four candidates on Friday, Jestha 8, 2083 B.S., at the Ministry of Finance. These meetings are intended to further evaluate the candidates before the final appointment is made.
The discussion with Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari is set for 1:00 PM, while the meeting with Binayadev Acharya will take place at 1:30 PM. Following them, the committee will meet Mukunda Kumar Chhetri at 2:00 PM and Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta at 2:30 PM.
