Knowing who owns the majority of these banks provides information about the general stability, control, and trustworthiness of Nepal’s financial sector.
Official shareholding filings for the fiscal year 2081 (2024–25) show that a number of prominent corporate groups, business families, and institutional investors still possess sizeable holdings in a number of banks. Based on the most recent information available from each commercial bank’s annual and quarterly reports, this study identifies the principal owners of each bank in Nepal.
