Gold prices fell sharply as soon as the international market opened on Monday. Within a short time, the price dropped by almost 3%, falling below 4,000 dollars per ounce. At the time of writing, gold was trading at 3,990 dollars per ounce.
Silver also saw a big fall, going down by 4.21% to 46.55 dollars per ounce compared to the previous day.
A few days ago, gold had reached a record high of 4,400 dollars per ounce. But after reports that America and China may reach a trade deal, investors started moving money from safe assets like gold to other investments.
