Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta, the newly appointed Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal, has officially assumed office at the board’s headquarters on Monday. Upon taking charge of his regulatory duties, Bhatta signed his first official decision to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign focused on preventing money laundering and combating the financing of terrorist activities.

His appointment to the leadership role at the country’s securities market regulator was finalized by a Cabinet meeting held on Asar 5. Ten days after his initial appointment, Bhatta took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday before Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, paving the way for him to assume office immediately afterward.
