The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has penalized 2,438 drivers for violating traffic regulations in a single day. This widespread enforcement action has generated Rs 20.79 lakh in revenue for the state treasury over the past 24 hours.
According to the traffic police, the violations covered a wide range of offenses on the roads of the Kathmandu Valley. Officers caught 85 individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and another three driving under the influence of drugs during their regular checks.

Additionally, the police took action against 130 drivers who were operating unauthorized ride-sharing services. The authorities also penalized 123 motorists for ignoring traffic lights and 160 drivers for driving past the prescribed speed limit.
The traffic police also recorded 122 cases of lane discipline violations. Eighty-eight drivers were fined for blowing horns in designated no-honking zones. The drive against vehicular pollution led to the penalization of 27 drivers whose vehicles emitted smoke beyond the permitted limits. Another 1,700 drivers faced action for various other general traffic rule violations during the same period.
