Due to the open border and free access to India, there is a massive increase in the number of mobile sets being imported without paying the tax. To avoid and prevent the illegal import and use of that illegal smartphone, Nepal Telecommunication Authority has now asked people to register the smartphones in Nepal. Type approval must be obtained from the Authority before importing mobile sets in Nepal. Customers have to re-register their IMEI if they have bought it from another nation and using it in Nepal or they think that smartphones are imported illegally. Customers do not have to re-register their IMEI in the case of mobile sets imported and purchased in Nepal. While purchasing mobile sets in Nepal, the Customer should be wise enough to ask for VAT bills
